31 März The 454My sort of new site, The 454, is a site that I revived that started out as a blog about nothing or a bunch of things but had no structure at all. I started it back in August 2005 and only wrote a few articles. Then I really got into MSN Spaces and I still love it. I love the fact that you can customize your layout to a certain point and it makes it very easy for the non-code writers like me. But it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I realized I wanted something a little more personal, and a little less "spacey". So I went back to Blogger and revived and renamed my old site and called it The 454. The 454 is a site I always wanted to do where I would review anything from gadgets to movies to games from my experience and my point of view. There are so many sites out there today, and great ones at that, that already report the new especially in video games and gadgets and they tend to overlap each other. Right now everything I write for The 454 is from my own personal experience. I watch the movies I talk about, and I play the video games I review and I most definitely play, try out, and tinker with every gadget or gizmo or program I use. Sure it might seem self indulgent to only review the things I like but that's kind of the point. You may not agree with me 100% of the time, but you'll know that whether I review something you like or don't like, you'll know it came straight from the source and not from someone else. Now the dilemma. I have two sites that I love yet I have little time between them. But what the hell, nc454 Land will still live on but maybe not as often as The 454. I'll still post occasionally here and most likely when I post a Movie of the Week or a really cool gadget at The 454, I'll post it over here as well. Keep a look out this week for the iPod Touch vs. the Zune. 07 März (Old) Movie of the Week: High FidelityI didn't see a movie this week in the theaters because frankly everything released in the NC sucks. We hardly ever get the Indie flicks I'm used to when I lived in Laguna Beach, California. So this week I pulled an oldie off the shelf and watched it for the 50 billionth time. High Fidelity was released way back in 2000-okay, maybe not way back but far enough back to my first year of college-but is a movie that easily stands toe to toe to today's romantic comedies. High Fidelity stars John Cusack, as a struggling independent record store owner and music aficionado who just broke up with his long term girlfriend played by Iben Hjejle. And throughout the movie Cusack goes on a quest to find out "what it all means" that he couldn't hold onto his "top five all time break-ups". The movie is extremely heart-warming and hilarious thanks to an early and brilliant performance, not to mentioned an excellent rendition of Marvin Gaye, by Jack Black who plays Cusacks co-worker and becomes an instant classic and a movie that you can watch over and over again especially when there's nothing of interest in the theater. *Credits to Buena Vista Pictures for the stills and High Fidelity poster. |
